Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
Ingredients:
- 11 X 13 oven safe baking dish
- 1 cube butter
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- I/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp. mustard
- 6 Tblsp. all-purpose flour
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 1 3/4 cups chicken broth
- 1 1/2 cups gouda cheese*
- 1 1/2 cups parmesan cheese*
- 3 cups sharp or medium cheddar cheese*
- *1 cup additional of mix of cheeses noted above for top of casserole
- 1 cup cooked crab meat
- 1 lb elbow macaroni
Directions:
- Boil elbow macaroni as directed until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat butter on medium heat and stir in garlic, cayenne pepper, and mustard. Cook until garlic is tender. Add flour and cook for about a minute until the mixture just starts to bubble. Slowly stir in milk and chicken broth and cook while mixing until the sauce thickens, about five minutes. Be careful to add the liquid a little at a time to avoid lumps. Turn off the heat and add the three cheeses. When cheese has melted, mix in cooked elbow macaroni and crab meat.
- Place mixture in a buttered 11 X 13 baking dish. Top with 1 cup of additional cheeses.
- Bake in oven for 45 minutes until cheese on top is slightly browned and bubbly.
This is delicious!
